How to Maximize Your Space

Do you feel like you have outgrown your space? Does your home seem to accumulate quickly and feel filled to-the-brim instead of open for space to be creative and enjoy? Oftentimes it is easy for us to accumulate furniture and items that we love and loose space at the same time. We believe there is a strategic way to maximize the space in your home so that it feels spacious, welcoming, and cozy at the same time. In this blog post, we will provide three ways to help you maximize the space in your home.

Utilize Corners

Most of our furniture has a linear look which leads to boxy and choppy layouts. This includes walls being used for couches, entertainment centers, and shelves which is common. We encourage you to think outside of the box when it comes to the layout of your space and utilizes the corners of your rooms effectively. This can be done in a myriad of ways. One of our favorite ways is to use a tall corner shelf that serves as a focal point, storage, which in turn may help make your room feel more complete. When you utilize this space of your home, it will make everything feel more complete and give you space for storage at the same time. Corners can also have a tall plant in it or a large rounded vase as well. Be creative and be strategic.

Strategic Storage Space

Similar to utilizing corners, it is important to maximize your space by having proper storage to keep everything neat and tidy. Nothing screams crammed and messy like a living space that does not have order and organization. A few of our favorite storage options are wicker baskets or an ottoman with built-in storage. These are excellent options that look nice but also give room to put toys, blankets, movies, or anything else that seems to consume your current living space. Storage not only helps with maintaining, but it also gives everything a place that will help keep your house clean as well.

Our Empty Wall

Our final recommendation for helping maximize your space is to have at least one wall that has minimal or no furniture on it. This ultimately helps capture the fact that not every wall or space is taken with an item. In turn, this will immediately make the space feel larger and more spacious. In addition, consider putting a circular mirror on one of your walls that reflects the outdoors. This will also make your space feel more bright and open. It’s important to remember when decorating that less is more. Be strategic on where you have items and where you choose to have vacant space.
