The warm weather is upon us! With that, comes the endless possibilities of enjoying the warmer weather and more outdoor responsibilities. It’s easy for the warmer weather to distract from the to-do lists that still come, so we are here to provide 3 practical tips on how to stay motivated during the summer months.
Block Your Time
Our first recommendation in how to stay motivated during the summer months is to plan your day. This can be as detailed or broad as you would like, but definitely a necessity to have in place. You can do this by the hour, or simply write the tasks that need to be done in order of importance so you are sure to tackle your to-do’s in the most effective order.
Splurge of the Day
They say your motivation level remains high if there is at least one thing to look forward to each day. And we couldn’t agree more! This splurge doesn’t need to be expensive, time-consuming, or even anything fancy. This can simply be enjoying a nice steak on the grill with your spouse. Or visiting Lake Michigan for a sunset. A drive-in theater. You get the idea.
When you know there is something to anticipate during your day, it helps you stay motivated to do the tasks that don’t appear as fun or desirable.
Week Review
Finally, we recommend at the end of each week, doing a review on how your time was managed. This allows for good self-reflection on areas to improve and areas to continue implementing as well. It’s easy to get so wrapped-up in the day-to-day that we can miss how our overall motivation and productivity was if we don’t do a look-back. This is a great time to do so, and will also help set you up for success for the following week.
