Have you ever felt as though the holiday season will never slow down? We get it. With so many committments, end-of-year responsiblilities, and celebrations, it can feel as though Decemember speeds on by before we can sit and enjoy it.
In this blog post, we would like to encourage an alternative to the business you feel and give you a few ideas on how to slow down this Christmas.
Choose to Simply Sit by the Tree
Our first (and maybe cheesy) recommendation this Christmas is to simply sit by your tree when you have a few spare moments throughout the day. Don’t forget to grab a comfy blanket, book, or cofee too. There is something about the ambiance, nostalgia, beauty, and comfort that can be felt by enjoying the Christmas tree in your home. This doesn’t mean the tree has to be 10 feet and decked out, it could even be ceramic! Regardless, simply finding spare moments throughout your day to enjoy the Christmas tree really helps slow the time down and allow you to relish in the season.
Bake a Holiday Treat
We understand baking may not be your favorite passtime, but there is something extra special about baking a holiday treat around Christmastime. There’s such beauty in the act of putting together ingredients and waiting for the treat to bake as the declicious aromas fill the home. Do you have a family recipe your Grandma used to make you’ve been meaning to try? Or is there a cute treat you’ve been meaning to try you saw on Pinterest? What better time than now!
Participate in Advent
Our third recomendation for slowing down this Christmas is to participate in advent or a countdown towards Christmas day. When you set aside time intentionally each day, time feels as though it slows down in that moment. Are you looking for an Advent plan? Focus on the Family has a wonderful Advent guide free to download here.
We understand the Christmas season can be busy. However, we highly encourage you to have fresh eyes this holiday season and truly embrace slowing down this Christmas as you celebrate with your loved ones and enjoy the festivities as well. On behalf of Lakeshore Custom Cabinets, we would like to wish you a very, Merry Christmas!
