Does your home feel like a lot to manage? Do you feel as though it takes so much thought and effort just to keep up with weekly responsibilities that deep decluttering, organization, and order feel too far out of reach? We get it because we have been there. In this blog post, we would like to provide you with some practical systems to begin implementing today to bring order, clarity, and peace to your home.
System #1- Implement a Donation + Giftings Basket
Our first system we encourage you to begin implementing is setting aside a donation and giftings basket somewhere in your home or garage. One of the biggest mistakes we see people make is thinking they will declutter that space “later” or they will pick-up that item to give to a particular family member “tonight”. However, when we continually make decisions that simply pass on the task to a later time, we don’t receive the mental or physical space that we could have received if we had a system in place.
When you have two separate “Going-Out” bins that you can simply place those items in, you will be able to stay on top of the clutter and also know when it’s time to run to the donation center. This is also handy for items passing back and forth with family or friends because you always have those items ready to go when you see them next.
System #2- Weekly Fridge Clean-Out
Are you the kind of person who does a quarterly fridge clean-out to dispose of expired items and give everything a good wipe-down? What if we told you that not only does that give far too much time for the fridge to accumulate crumbs and who knows what else, but it also doesn’t aid in you truly knowing what you have in your fridge? When you prioritize a weekly fridge clean-out BEFORE shopping for the week, this gives you time to evaluate what your family is and isn’t eating, what food you need to stock up on, and what items you may forgo on your next trip.
System #3- A Load of Laundry a Day
We understand this may not be in everyone’s best interest, but hear us out for a minute. Are you motivated to fold a BIG load of laundry or a small one? Typically, BIG loads of laundry are dreaded and account for additional days of simply delaying the task. However, when laundry is kept up on a regular basis, it doesn’t pile up, you don’t need as many clothing items of various categories, and your washer and dryer units will be able to wash and dry your items more efficiently. A win-win if you ask us!
Do you have any systems that help you at home?
We encourage you to continually evaluate what works and doesn’t work in your home. As various seasons in life and weather come and go, certain things will need to ebb and flow as well. Utilize this to your advantage!
